Are there any make-up classes?
Yes. Saturdays are FREE! As long as you sign up for a 2 or 3 day per week session you will be able to make-up any class you miss on Saturday. If you have a pre-planned vacation or you know you have to go out of town for work...we can pro-rate that into your cost. If you just do not feel like working out that day and do not show up for class... you have the opportunity to come to Saturdays class! Everyone needs to make a commitment to exercise and health and the best way to do that is if you have a set schedule that gets you there!
How soon will I see results?
Performance improvement can take place in as little as a couple days. "Visual Improvement" can take as much as a couple to several weeks depending on your effort level. Remember, everyone's body is different so your results will differ! Everyone is expected to progress. Its very important not to miss class and give 100% effort in class. It is VERY IMPORTANT to understand that diet and nutrition is a way of life, and your outcome weighs heavily on healthy eating. With proper eating one can lose up to 8 pounds in one session!
Remember, this isn't just four weeks and you're done. Our camp is a continuing four week fitness program. Fitness isn't just for a specified period of time, it's a lifestyle. Make exercise and supportive nutrition part of your everyday lifestyle! If you do this, you will see results!
Will I be able to participate if I'm not in good shape?
The goal of the program is to GET you into shape, and if you are already in shape our goal is to get you in better shape! We can help you get into the best shape of your life! But ANYONE can do our Boot Camp! You DO NOT have to be in the best shape to start the program... your commitment to yourself along with our incredible outdoor workouts will leave you feeling energetic, challenged and accomplished. We will modify your workout to coincide with your ability. Our exercises are scalable to most fitness levels. But, you should be able to jog for short distances or short lengths of time. Slow jogging is fine. We perform very short runs and in order for you to participate with the entire group, a minimum of slow jogging is necessary. If you feel you are unable to do this we have Personal Training Sessions available that will enable you to build your strength and endurance needed to participate in the boot camp and to feel comfortable with your fitness level to attend the boot camp sessions.
What do I bring to boot camp?
Be sure to wear comfortable clothes. Bring a large towel or yoga mat, a full bottle of water, and good quality tennis shoes. Workout gloves, if desired.
What time will we meet?
Classes are exactly 50 minutes long and meet at the scheduled time. They start on time and end on time. Its very important to be on time. Do not be late. Many times we will meet and then leave that area. If you are late, you might not be able to find us!
Can I bring someone to try boot camp out?
You can bring someone once for FREE! I would prefer if you let me know when would be a good day and time to bring them but if its last minute just bring them along with you to that day. After they try the class out once they have the opportunity to purchase a punch card or a session. If its in the middle of the session I will pro-rate their cost.
What if the weather is bad?
Don't let cold, wet weather interfere with your training schedule. Working out in all conditions is part of the FUN ! Yes, I said FUN! This is Michigan! So, bad weather is bound to happen.
Layering is the key; it helps to strike a balance between your body temperature, your clothing, and the weather. With the excellent technical fibers out there these days, there is no reason that you can't enjoy a warm, dry workout no matter what the weather is! The key to staying warm and comfortable is to dress in layers...
First Layer
This layer must move moisture away from the body to prevent chill. Cotton won’t work; it just absorbs moisture. Choose a fabric such as CoolMax for superior moisture management.
Mid Layer
This is your insulating layer. It continues to move moisture to the outer layer, but also traps warm air for insulation. Don't make this layer too heavy or too tight-fitting or you could overheat. Polyester fleece is a good choice for this layer.
Outer Layer
This layer protects you from the elements and completes moisture transfer by releasing perspiration into the atmosphere. It could be a vest, jacket, or complete breathable, waterproof running suit. However cold and wet is that day is what determines your Outer Layer.
Don’t forget your hands feet and head!
As much as 70% of your body heat escapes through your extremities! On cold days, always have a hat and gloves in your pocket. If you are wearing a hat and gloves and feel overheated, take them off to vent quickly.
So... Unless there are thunderstorms or its raining cats and dogs... we will workout.
Shiawassee Park has a covered area, plan on meeting there if it is raining. You could be contacted up to an hour before class starts to hear if class will be canceled.
